Granollers – MHB: “We showed experience”, “good to know how to win away”, post-match reactions

Victorious on the ground of the Catalans of Granollers (24-28), this Tuesday October 15 in the EHF Cup, the Montpellier team did a good job and took first place in the ranking.
Valentin Porte, captain of Montpellier: “I was expecting this kind of match a little bit. From experience, matches in Spain are always complicated. It's not easy to gain confidence and exploit your fast game. I think that in this respect, we showed experience. Normally, in fast play, it's our strong point. We saw that we were perhaps taking risks. They're a team that plays very quickly too, that scores half their goals in fast play. I think that in the second half, we really showed experience. It wasn't the best of matches, but we came up against a very good goalkeeper too. It's a European Cup match. You have to know how to win them. I remember that we won a complicated match."
“We're not going to win all our matches by 12 goals”
Erick Mathé, Montpellier coach: “'I said we weren't going to win all our matches by 12 goals, as was the case recently. But even if we didn't play our best game, it's good to know how to win it, especially away from home.We used the weapons we needed to win this game, when we could have spread ourselves too thin, because we missed 15 shots, so that's a lot. We lost 13 balls, that's a lot too. Despite that, we managed to win, and put 24 goals against a team that had the best attack for a while, in any case that scored a lot of goals. It's still satisfying.
Defensively, we held up well. And then, in attack, we fell into their trap a bit. Despite that, we managed to win this away game. In the European Cup, we know that it's never easy."

Karl Konan, Montpellier defender: "It took us a while to widen the gap. And in the end, we left with four. But it took us a long time. There was a fair bit of waste, I think, in both areas of the game, but we knew, with the experience we have gained over the past two years now, how to manage the match as we should have. There are still things to correct. We will do that internally, but we can be satisfied with taking these two points at Granollers. It wasn't easy."
