Great success for the opening of the Au Vide Grenier boutique in Béziers

The Au Vide Grenier store, 40 rue de l’Industrie (former Go Sport store) in Béziers opened its doors this Tuesday, August 20. As soon as it opened, the crowd was waiting to enter the premises in search of a good deal. Behind the cash registers, the trolleys were well filled.

There was a crowd on Tuesday, August 20, at the opening of the Au Vide Grenier store, 40 rue de l'Industrie (former Go Sport store) in Béziers. As a reminder, the Au Vide Grenier brand, which specializes in second-hand goods for individuals, was due to open its doors on August 7. But due to the safety commission not having passed through on time, the town hall was unable to give its approval for the opening.

“A lot of clothes, trinkets, collectibles, everyday items and little furniture were sold today”, confides Romain Chassagne, creator of the brand and manager of the company AVG. “The principle is based on renting out spaces for one to three weeks for 15 to 30 euros. We take 35% on each sale on average. We rented 310 stands in total, it is the largest of all our stores. Once the stands are rented, customers can come and add items regularly."

Indeed, the company AVG, whose head office is located in Nantes, is doing very well. Throughout France, it has nearly 54 Au Vide-Grenier franchises and 2 Au Vide dressing franchises."At the moment, we are opening one per week."

For her part, Joséphine Loron, the store manager, is delighted: "For this first day, we are delighted. The customers are very nice and have not complained about the long wait behind the checkouts. Everyone is smiling. Also, the town hall and the security commission were very responsive after the Béziers Feria and placed us in their priorities to allow us to open quickly. All the stands are rented, we even had to refuse requests. The traffic will be renewed because the location tenants will rotate. And, we help them to promote their stands."

"I came to renew my entire wardrobe", says Élisa, all smiles, behind her well-filled trolleys. "We're making the round trip from Narbonne especially for the day to buy clothes. We came as a family to get dressed. It costs less than on Vinted where you have to add shipping costs. Here, you can see the clothes directly on site and several sizes are available. You can clearly see that there was a lot of sorting done beforehand. There is only clean equipment."

Ludivine, comes from Portiragnes, especially for the opening. "I love to rummage, it's my passion. I like to buy second-hand. Like in flea markets, I work on impulse and I know that I can treat myself because the prices are low." The second-hand market has a bright future ahead of it….
