Green light from the investigating commissioner for the future Montpellier Western Bypass

Declared a Public Utility in September 2021, the Montpellier Western Bypass (COM) aims to develop the existing axis of approximately 6 km between Juvignac and Saint- John of Vedas. The objective will be to connect the A750 in the North to the A709 in the South.

The State has designated the Autoroutes du Sud de la France (ASF) company as the concessionaire for this operation. The company is responsible for the project management of this operation by delegation from the State.

In this context, and to enable him to decide on the transferability of the land necessary to carry out the COM's work, the prefect of Hérault opened a public inquiry which lasted for & rsquo;April to May 2024.

This public inquiry made it possible to determine the limit of the property to be acquired, to draw up a plot plan, to establish the list of properties and holders of real rights concerned by the expropriation and finally to collect the observations of the owners and all people affected by the process.

It took place in the municipalities of Montpellier, Saint-Jean-de-Védas and Juvignac, the most impacted by the project.

Vinci recalls that the approach desired by ASF is "an exchange and discussions leading to a fair and amicable agreement with the owners of impacted plots. At this stage, it is recalled that two thirds of the rights of way are public. The remaining third (private) will be subject to acquisition, knowing that the negotiation route is preferred. To date, more than 53% of the plots have been acquired."
