Handball: Montpellier Edouard Carnet, new physical trainer for the Tunisian selection.

Déjà en poste avec l’équipe de France de BMX Freestyle park, Edouard Carnet s’est engagé avec l’équipe nationale de Tunisie pour tenter de la qualifier aux Jeux Olympiques de Paris 2024.

Since December Edouard Carnet has reconnected with his first love: handball. Freshly graduated in 2015, the physical preparation specialist embarked on an exotic adventure, within a Romanian club in the Carpathians with which he won a European Cup.< /p>

Almost 10 years later, he returned to this discipline with the Tunisian national team which was preparing for the African Cup of Nations and seeking to win a ticket for the Olympic Games. "I’I have always had contacts in handball since I worked in Romania, explains the one who was under contract until last summer at the volleyball club of Montpellier with whom he was crowned champion of France 2022. Olivier Maurelli, physical trainer of the Blues, put me in touch with Patrick Cazal, the coach of Tunisia, double world champion with France (1995 and 2001) and former Montpellier player."

A place at the Games to get

In addition to his role as physical trainer for the French BMX Freestyle park team, Edouard Carnet flew off in December for two weeks of training in Monastir before returning to his new players in Hammamet this week. With the objective of bringing the Tunisian players back to physical level before the upcoming deadlines: "The challenge is to try to win the African Cup of Nations, says the Montpellier native .
