A frontal collision between a Golf and a Mini, followed by an accident with the driver of a scooter who was unable to brake in time, left eight people injured, including a serious one, this Wednesday, June 19, around 5 p.m. on the M65 in Castelnau-le-Lez, near the "Clapiers" exit.
According to the first investigations, carried out by the gendarmes of the Castelnau company, the driver of the Golf swerved, for a reason that the investigation will have to determine.
The Golf has moved away
His vehicle then moved into the left lane just as a Mini arrived, in which there were two people. A high-velocity frontal impact that a 14-year-old teenager who was following them on his scooter was unable to avoid.
All those involved were taken care of by the Hérault firefighters. The most seriously injured was the passenger who was seated in the middle of the rear seat of the Golf. Did he wear a belt? History does not say.
Vital prognosis engaged
One thing is certain, aged 31, he was admitted to intensive care in the anesthesia and resuscitation department (Dar A) of the Lapeyronie hospital center. His vital prognosis is seriously compromised.
Two men aged 40 and 63 were evacuated to the Lapeyronie intensive care unit. More lightly injured, two men (44 and 48 years old), a woman (51 years old) and the moped rider (14 years old) were also transported to Lapeyronie but for check-up examinations.
As for the last victim, a man aged 60, he was evacuated to the Saint-Roch polyclinic. The investigation continues.
