In the Gard department, substandard housing constitutes a significant phenomenon whose local scale remains quantitatively difficult to grasp.

Living in decent housing means living with dignity. However, in the Gard, poor housing remains a worrying reality.

Faced with this alarming observation, Histologe is emerging as an effective tool allowing tenants to report problems with their housing online, free of charge and quickly.

A worrying situation

During a press conference held this Wednesday, April 24 in the premises of the prefecture, Jérôme Bonet, prefect of Gard, underlined the importance of making this tool known still not widespread. Accompanied by representatives of Caf and Adil, the former central director of the judicial police highlighted the urgency of acting in the face of the omnipresent precariousness in the department . "It is the duty of the State to do everything possible to fight against exclusion", he said, emphasizing the worrying nature of the precarious situation in Gard.

In Nîmes, renovation and recovery initiatives for private housing are at the heart of efforts to respond to the challenges of poor housing, particularly in complex neighborhoods. According to Didier Paquette, chairman of the board of directors of the Family Allowance Funds (Caf), "the success of housing improvement initiatives depends on capacity to identify, as early as possible, households in a situation of poor housing." The Caf being at the heart of housing policy in France.

Histologe, a new tool to fight against substandard housing

In 2023, no less than 500 reports of substandard housing have been recorded, demonstrating the scale of the problem. Now, in just a few clicks from your computer, Histologe can resolve these situations. "Since December, 60 Gardois have already used this new tool", welcomes Matthieu Perrot, director of the Caf du Gard, hoping that the number of requests will increase in the coming months.

Yves Maurel, deputy director of the Departmental Housing Information Agency (Adil) of Gard, underlined the speed and effectiveness of this additional tool. "Histologe is not there to replace what already exists. It’is a complementary tool which aims to be as close as possible to the occupants& quot;, he warns. If the registration of the online report is immediate, the commission for decent housing (CPLD), led by the Caf and in charge of ;rsquo;examine the files, meets monthly. "Intervention times vary from 48 hours for the most urgent situations to a maximum of two months for traditional procedures.", he specifies.

Histologe is now accessible on the website of the Ministry of Transition (https://histologe.beta.gouv.fr), thus offering tangible hope to the inhabitants of Gard faced with the scourge of poor housing.
