A motorcyclist who was taking part in an endurance race on the Nogaro circuit in Gers died on Saturday afternoon after being hit by a competitor after a fall.

The 38-year-old rider fell on a bend during the first lap of the race on the Paul-Armagnac circuit before being hit in the helmet by a competitor who was following him and was unable to avoid him.

Weekend races cancelled

The motorcyclist, originally from Vendée, died despite the rapid intervention of emergency services. The races scheduled on the circuit for the rest of the weekend were cancelled following the accident. Located in the west of Gers, the Nogaro circuit, inaugurated in 1960, hosts automobile and motorcycle competitions.

In 2023, a driver from Alsace, who had fallen during a race on this same circuit, was airlifted to the Purpan hospital in Toulouse, before dying two days later.
