The series of thefts continues. This time, it was the Les jardin de la bohême association, which offers shared gardens to the inhabitants of Pouget, which paid the price.

And two more, gone! This brings to fifty-four the number of 1,000 liter rainwater recovery tanks stolen in the heart of Hérault, in an area between Bélarga, Le Pouget, Aspiran , Adissan, Paulhan, Nébian…

The first to alert Midi Libre to this phenomenon was Sébastien, market gardener at Aux baskets de Delphine in Tressan, exasperated by repeated thefts from his plots in March. After a tiller and a wheelbarrow, two 1,000 liter tanks were stolen.

Post on Facebook

He then made a post on Facebook to express his anger. And, to his great astonishment, he had received a series of emails from local farmers denouncing similar facts. In total, he had identified… fifty-two flights.

In view of this "real scourge", he then invited the victims to file complaints in large numbers. "It’is all well and good to say that vats were stolen from us but if we don't file a complaint, it’s wind and the police do not suspect the extent of the phenomenon."

Isolated land

The latest victims of this type of theft are Les jardin de la bohême which offer shared gardens under the cover of a 1901 law association on land loaned by the Pouget town hall.

An isolated plot of land, with no neighbors, which attracted the desire of thieves on the night of Thursday 25 to Friday 26 April. "They completely cut the fence which they rolled on the sides to allow a vehicle to pass through. No doubt a truck", confides, bitterly, Nathalie Petit, the president.

It's endless and it can quickly become lucrative

After emptying the tanks, which were full of water, they took them on board as if nothing had happened. "It’is more expensive in terms of damage than the price of the tank itself which can be found on Leboncoin between 50 and 80 euros each", adds the manager, disillusioned.

"Afterwards, it’s sure, if it’s a sector with people who steal, sell, steal again, resell, it’s endless and it can quickly become lucrative.&quot ;

A tip, worth digging

In this case, it was two rainwater recovery tanks in a logic of water, environmental and water management ;rsquo;economy, which had been put in place since the creation of a shed on site. And which was used to water part of the collective plots.

And Nathalie Petit concludes: "Tying them up is no use. Because if they manage to cut a fence, it’s not a chain that will stop them. They are equipped. On the other hand, I regret not having tagged or engraved them like that, they would have been unsaleable."

A tip, worth digging…

Please note that an investigation is underway, carried out by the gendarmes of the Lodève company. But, for the moment, it has not borne fruit.
