On August 21, 2024, a man in the Var won the Loto jackpot by playing a combination inspired by a deceased loved one. This Monday, September 30, the Française des Jeux presented him with a check for 4.5 million euros.

A combination that brought him luck. On August 21 in Lorgues (Var), a loyal player won the sum of 4,578,081 euros in the lottery, as announced by the FDJ in a press release on Monday, September 30, reports BFM Var.

This regular player has been playing the same combination for two years. "I knew someone who won a nice sum spinning the Millionaire wheel&quot ;, he confided to the FDJ.

"When this person is passed away, I discovered that she often validated a lottery grid with lucky numbers. I decided to continue playing this combination in his honor,” he explained.

Family time

Thanks to this combination, he won the 4.5 million euros. “I still can't believe it, it's unbelievable”, he said with emotion. He plans to use the money to spend time with his family, including traveling, and fulfill a long-held dream of buying a camper van.

This win is not the biggest won in the Var. Last February, 73.4 million euros were won in the Euromillions. Among the other biggest wins of the department, there were 16 million in Carnoules in 2015, 15 million in Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer in 2011, as well as 10 million in Saint-Maximin-la-Baume and Brignoles in 2015 and 2011 respectively.
