“I wanted to reaffirm my innocence”: suspected of drug trafficking, the mayor of Avallon comes out of silence for the first time

Jamilah Habsaoui, the mayor of Avallon, is suspected of being involved in drug trafficking. She spoke this Friday, May 3, for the first time since the affair broke out, in the columns of L’Yonne Republicane.

"After a month of silence, I wanted to express myself and reaffirm my innocence". These are the first words from Jamilah Habsaoui, the mayor of Avallon (Yonne), since her incarceration on April 10 at the Dijon remand center.

The councilor suspected of being involved in drug trafficking following the discovery at his home of 70 kg of cannabis resin, a kilo of cocaine, more than 7,000 cash euros in cash and gold bars, spoke at his request this Friday, May 3 for the first time since the start of the affair, in the columns of our colleagues of L’Yonne republican.

"I will compromise neither my integrity nor my honor"

Wishing "to break the silence" and "to put the rumors to rest& ;quot;, Jamilah Habsaoui claimed to have "confidence in the justice of the Republic" and < em>"assures of (his) full cooperation so that the truth comes to light and (his) innocence is officially recognized".

"Rest assured that I will never compromise either my probity or my honor. Just as I will never betray your trust, declared the elected official to the attention of her constituents. She also thanked "all the people (who) gave her their support, in particular the Avallonaises".

The elected official's lawyer assured last month that his client had "strictly nothing to do with it" with the facts with which she was accused and that she was "stunned" by the discovery of drugs at his home.
