In Millau, associations are planning a year 2024 full of events

The Millavian associations are preparing some nice surprises for the year 2024.

The new year has just started. With it, new goals and projects. Midi Libre went to meet three associations – Bar'bouille, Radio Larzac and Myriade – to find out what they have in store in 2024 .

At Radio Larzac, music has an important place. Last year, during the music festival, we had six artists who performed for 45 minutes each. At the end of the services, we interview them. All this  live on our airwaves", specifies Sofia Pavanini, coordinator of community radio. In 2024, Radio Larzac hopes to do it again.

A reading evening on January 18

This desire to share is reflected in their evening of January 18, during a collective broadcast broadcast as part of the "Nuits de la lecture&quot ;, a national event organized on the theme of the body. In the premises of Radio Larzac, there will be readings offered by anyone who wants them. In 2024, the association will continue to produce its shows, some of which were launched in 2023, such as the radio games in partnership with La Doline, "Face au Mic!&quot ; or  "Funky Good Time".

At Myriade, these are moments of conviviality. On May 25, the Crea courtyard will become the scene of a “modest but warm” moment, on the occasion of the spring of colors. "Every year, with the members and the Millavois, we organize a festive moment which allows us to show off the colorful and multicultural Millau. We are organizing this big meal because at Myriade it is unthinkable to have an event without a meal,” smiles Monique Crinon, president.

A half-hearted year 2023

The year 2023 reveals a heterogeneous outcome for the three associations. At Myriade, "finances are going badly”, confides Monique Crinon. "The increase in electricity has an impact on our association. Then we lost funding. For us, each of them is necessary to finance our teams and our projects."

The associative café Bar'bouille is also experiencing difficulties. This is evidenced by the launch of an online fundraiser to support the association. "We benefit from public subsidies, and in particular significant support from the Caf, which attest to the recognition of the institutions, but today the Bar'bouille remains financially fragile. "

For its part, at Radio Larzac "the accounts are in balance, according to Sofia Pavanini. We celebrated our 20th anniversary and that put us quite a bit involved in the second part of 2023.

Continue engagement

In 2024, the association will set the tone in terms of the fight against discrimination. "We wish to emphasize issues of discrimination and the fight against violence against women,” says the president of Myriade. Thus, on January 9, with the Local Security and Delinquency Prevention Committee (CLSPD) and in partnership with Acsa (Cultural Association of South Aveyron) ;and the Théâtre de la Maison du Peuple, the play My silence screams will deal with domestic violence. A long-standing commitment of the Millavoise association.

"Developing intergenerational links" at Bar'bouille

Le Bar'bouille, the associative café located very close to Les Halles, wishes in 2024 to continue to "develop intergenerational links like during Friday soup, in particular", confides Vanessa Desprairies, coordinator and& nbsp;one of the two employees of the association. This link will also be extended during "crochet workshops, planned for 2024".

The associative café responded to a call for cultural projects from the department whose objective is to create social ties. So "in collaboration with the Echo Equis association – which leads cinematographic projects —, every Wednesday afternoon from January to May we will embark on this little challenge", says Vanessa Desprairies. These workshops, "the purpose of which is to produce a short film from the conception of the scenario to the editing",  will bring together teenagers from Bar'bouille, IME de la Roquette in Sévérac-d'Aveyron and the social children's home (Mecs) of Millau-Ségur. It is certain that in 2024 the city of gloves will be able to count on its associations to animate, share and persevere in its commitments.
