In Millau, the MHR Solidaire kicks off the Défi des Cistes

Ils étaient 80 bénévoles et cyclistes à prendre le départ depuis la Maladrerie à Millau du Défi des Cistes, course caritative dont les fonds récoltés permettent de financer les projets de l’association Planète Handisport.

In continuation of the theme chosen for the 23/24 season, that is to say promoting “sport in all its forms”, the MHR Solidaire gave Thursday morning in Millau the first rounds of wheel of the Défi des Cistes. Charity race whose funds raised will make it possible this year to finance the projects of the Nîmes association Planète Handisport which works to promote extreme sports among people with disabilities.

After Castres, Perpignan and Bayonne, the united peloton gathered around the young retiree Fulgence Ouedraogo – who will have spent 18 years of rugby career at MHR -, will hit the road from the Michelin stadium in Clermont-Ferrand to attend the next Top 14 meeting between the Montpellier club and ASM.

On the menu for this climb, 342 km and 5,600 meters of positive altitude difference for the 66 participants visibly happy to walk in the Gorges du Tarn before reaching Aubrac then the historic capital of l’Auvergne. A major challenge for biclou lovers who will soon be confronted with the Col de la Croix Neuve in Mende, the famous "Montée Jalabert" or at the Col du Puy Mary, two legendary climbs of the Tour de France.

"The challenge of the Cistes is a reflection of all the values ​​that we defend at MHR Solidaire, welcomes the manager Florent Comptour. And we are proud to include for this edition cyclists with disabilities". As such, the peloton welcomes  "for the first time in its history", four representatives of Planète Handisport including two people with disabilities.< /p>

Planète Handisport introduces people with disabilities to sensational sports

Planète Handisport, aka PHS, aims to introduce people with disabilities to sports & sensations. "We are also developing organized trips and unusual activities in order to offer original experiences adapted to ;es to people à mobility reduced. Our activities are shared between athletes and disabled sportspeople", this confirms the association founded in 2008  ;counting today 46 volunteers.
