In Montpellier, parents and teachers against the Shock of Knowledge

Several dozen parents and teachers demonstrated this afternoon against the Shock of Knowledge, a reform imagined by the Ministry of Education intended for middle school teaching.

"The colleges are in the process of making the distribution for the next school year and we see that things are stuck, with crazy timetables while it’ there are not enough teachers", says Marie Nikichine, parent of a student and member of the Federation of Parents' Councils (FCPE).

This Tuesday, April 2, she was one of the hundred parents and teachers to demonstrate in Montpellier, at the call of an inter-union movement against the Shock of Knowledge, a reform project carried out for several weeks by National Education.

"The scrapping of fifty years of education"

Project where, according to its detractors, it is a question of setting up groups of levels, of the obligation to obtain a middle school certificate to enter high school, of sorting and separatism and school segregation.

Flag in hand, Valérie Barylo embraye : "It’is the destruction of fifty years of education. We are asking for fewer numbers and more teachers and already at the educational level it will not be bad".

And the two interested parties concede: "It’s not easy to mobilize the parents of students because it’ is very technical". This April 2, there are in fact only a few dozen to demonstrate and march to the rectorate where a delegation was to be received by the chief of staff of the rector and the general secretary of the Rectorate.
