In Montpellier, this store refuses to have sales and offers alternatives to its customers

Les soldes ont démarré ce mercredi 10 janvier partout à Montpellier. Enfin presque partout. Un magasin fait de la résistance… sans négliger ses clients. Explication.

"The brand has never taken part in sales campaigns. And this is not about to change because it is the antithesis of our values." Julien Tuffery, head of the French jeans manufacturer Atelier Tuffery, established for several months on the Place de la Comédie, explains this committed choice, with figures to back it up.

Each year, of all the clothing produced in the world, around 35% will be sold on sale, and 30% will never be sold and therefore never worn. Only 35% of the total production will be sold at the initial price and without discount. "These three figures are enough to establish the dramatic observation of the unreasonable overproduction of clothing, largely encouraged by the sales phenomenon. Currently, on the planet, clothes are the most purchased products on sale, explains Myriam Tuffery, the company's co-manager.

An alternative operation to sales

In addition to this commitment to ethical and responsible fashion, the owners of the Atelier also think about their customers' wallets. They propose an operation called "Perfect Imperfects" from January 16 to 27. What is it ? Offer clothing with imperfections for sale at reduced prices. "This operation, which is similar to a clearance sale, normally takes place once a year in our Florac workshop, but we wanted to offer it to Montpellier residents", continues Julien Tuffery. If you open the door of the boutique in the premises of the former Quick, you will find racks with clothes with weaving tears, color variations, irregular seams. Small defects but nothing irremovable…

The brand also offers a platform dedicated to customers who want to resell their jeans on the internet. You create an account, put your items on sale. If it is sold, Tuffery will send you the shipping note. You then get the money back or a voucher with a 120% match from the brand. A financial effort that allows the brand to retain its customers; A win-win deal.
