Increase in the price of electricity: some French people will be more impacted than others by the increase, are you concerned ?
As Bruno Le Maire announced this Sunday, January 21 on the TF1 set, the upcoming increase in electricity prices should not reach 10% for 97% of French people. But for the remaining 3%, this increase could amount to 10.1%.
Subscribers to the Tempo rate
The people impacted by this above-normal increase will be users subscribed to EDF's Tempo tariff indicates Le Point. The reason ? The latter were better protected by the tariff shield put in place by the government during the energy crisis. But the end of this tariff shield therefore affects them more than the others.
For these 400,000 subscribers to the Tempo rate, the year is divided into three parts: 300 days " blue", 43 days "white", and 22 days "red". During this red period, which is more expensive in terms of electricity, the consumer must avoid running their washing machine and radiators at the same time, otherwise the bill could turn out to be hefty.
Subscribers at the "off-peak"
rate
Other consumers will also experience a larger increase than normal. These are subscribers at the rate " off-peak hours". For the latter, the increase will be 9.8 %, compared to 8.6 % for subscribers to the base rate of ;#39;EDF. Here too, the beneficiaries of the option "off-peak hours" had received more advantageous protection thanks to the shield.
The reason for this budgetary choice is energy: through this tariff, which encourages users to reduce their consumption when the situation is tense, they promote the regulation of the electricity system. When cold weather intensifies or when wind turbines provide less energy, they reduce overall electricity demand.
