Faced with this phenomenon, the national police have developed a platform which allows victims of these practices to file a complaint or make a report online: the Thesee system, for “harmonized processing of investigations and reports for e-scams& ;quot;. 

Complaints hitherto scattered

An important issue for investigators, because if the number of online scams is increasing, complaints filed in isolation make technical investigations uncertain, and legal actions are limited. ;find them scattered. Furthermore, the extent of this crime remains underestimated, due to a lack of systematic reporting by victims.

Hence the interest in the Thesse platform, which makes it possible to centralize the facts, which are analyzed by a dedicated and specialized police service, based in Nanterre. International surveys can thus be developed and their effectiveness enhanced. In addition, filing a complaint is made easier: no need to go to a police station or gendarmerie brigade. 

In the lead, fake online sales sites

Created less than two years ago, on March 15, 2022, Thesee collected, that year, 82,844 declarations, including 45,929 validated complaints. The most common operating methods: fake online sales sites (40%), fake sellers (17%) and fake buyers (11%). The instructions

The Thesee platform is accessible on the site www.service-public.fr (via the search engine). The user must identify themselves to file a complaint or can remain anonymous for a report. It is oriented towards the procedure corresponding to his situation, fills out a personalized form which will be validated by an investigator. Finally, he receives a copy of the complaint report or confirmation of the filing of his report.
