Boat aground: an investigation is underway
#SÈTE This Wednesday, shortly after 6 p.m., several shipwrecks occurred off the coast of Sète and Marseillan due to the strong swell. A boater was found dead while another victim, his brother, was in dire need of emergency care. In addition, a speedboat was found empty on the Lido beach in Sète. The boat was carrying at least one occupant on board who was reported missing. “For more than five hours, the area between Frontignan and Marseillan was fully investigated”, reports the maritime prefecture.
Given the extent of the area, the duration of the searches and the poor weather conditions, the searches were unsuccessful and were interrupted at midnight. A judicial investigation was launched by the Sète national police. On Wednesday, Cross Med also coordinated an operation involving three boaters who fell overboard after their speedboat ran aground on the beach near the port of Marseillan. The people were taken care of in relative emergency before being transported to the hospital in Sète.
The Solvay factory unblocked
#GARD After more than 15 days of conflict, a strike exit protocol was signed between Solvay management and the CGT union in Salindres. This strike movement was initiated after management announced the cessation of production of TFA (trifluoroacetic acid), considered an eternal pollutant, and the elimination of 68 jobs.
"There has been considerable progress compared to the initial proposals", management estimates in a press release. "A supra-conventional indemnity of 40,000 euros will be paid to all laid-off employees subject to the successful completion of future operations until the definitive cessation of production." A conclusion that does not exclude the continuation of negotiations.
