iPhone, iPad, Mac… you want to learn how to get the most out of your devices ? Visit “Today at Apple”
We all think we know how to use our Apple devices. We think we're experts on our iPhone, iPad or Mac. But we are wrong. At least for the vast majority of us, even the most tech-savvy. These smartphones, tablets and computers are today so rich in features that it is almost impossible to take 100% advantage of them without support.
It is to meet this need that the American company is organizing Today at Apple, in all of its Apple Stores around the world. And therefore also in the twenty in France, including that of Montpellier located in Odysseum. These workshops last between thirty minutes and an hour and a half and are organized several times a day. They are offered by Apple, whether you own a device from the Apple brand or whether you simply want to discover the universe before, possibly, falling for this or that model. The only constraint: register online in advance.
There are no stupid questions!
Today at Apple events take place in a friendly atmosphere in the store, around a table, alongside specialists. And here we don't judge: the “stupid” are welcome, no need to be afraid of coming across as a completely abandoned user! Kindness is the key word. You can participate alone or as a family to learn how to master the possibilities offered by Apple products and services within a home.
Several types of sessions are offered: from basic discovery to in-depth study of certain functionalities, particularly with regard to photography and video. The latest iPhones have become over the years such gems in this field that it is a shame not to exploit them to the fullest, whether in a private or professional setting. And it’s still simpler and more effective to learn when someone shows us directly than by watching a tutorial on Youtube.
Apple offers these workshops, you just need to register in advance. N.B.
Currently, the emphasis is on what Apple calls “continuity”. In short, the ability to start a task on one device and continue it on another. This feature, although impressive, is still little known.
Among the most surprising possibilities, we find the universal clipboard. “Choose an image, video, or line of text in an app on your iPhone or iPad. Then paste it into an app on your Mac that's nearby. Or the other way around. There's nothing more to do, just copy and paste, like you usually do, Apple explains. You found a recipe on the web with your Mac? Paste the ingredients directly into the shopping list on your iPhone or iPad. You can even copy and paste entire files from one Mac to another.”
The Power of Message
Another telling example: Message. “Any messages that appear on your iPhone also appear on your Mac, so your conversations stay up to date across all your devices. When friends send you a message, no matter what phone they're using, you can reply to them from your Mac or iPhone, whatever suits you. It is even possible to start a conversation by SMS or iMessage on your Mac by clicking on a phone number in Safari, Contacts, Calendar or Spotlight, explains the manufacturer. You're being called on your iPhone? Answer on your Mac, Apple Watch or iPad. You can answer or make a phone call, even if your iPhone is in the bottom of your bag. Or charging in the next room.”
Other workshops are devoted to the use of the Pencil, which allows you to draw with your iPad, the Apple Watch or even the creation of personalized emojis. It’s simple, there is something for all tastes and all needs.
