On Tuesday mornings, until the end of August, around twenty local producers come to the heart of the medieval city.
Launched three years ago, the Vézénobres summer market of taste and crafts is still there! Organised by the Maison de la Figue and the association Site remarquable du goût, figue de Vézénobres, it has well and truly made its mark, even if“it takes five years for a market to become established in the landscape”, smiles Lise Fossat, from the Maison de la Figue. Moreover, after having invested the Place Fay-Peraut, in the heart of the medieval city, with around ten exhibitors, the first year, the market now also occupies this summer, every Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., until August 27, the Place du Temple. “With a good twenty exhibitors on average, who rotate”, specifies Liliane Allemand, the president of the association.
Highlighting exclusively Gard productions
This August 6, moreover, the customers were once again there. Mainly vacationers! The objective therefore seems to have been achieved, since, recalls Liliane Allemand, “three years ago, we wanted to offer a small market to liven up the heart of the village”. Also to highlight exclusively Gard productions, overwhelmingly from the catchment area of the commune.
The exhibitors, among the oldest, have the floor
Some exhibitors have participated in this adventure since its launch. Thus, Lou Caussignac, for La Cantonade (oil, tapenade, etc.), believes that “it was something to do ! We lack local producers' markets in the villages. This is a market with good products, in an ideal setting. Hoping that it will expand…" A little further away, Simon Le Berre is also a merchant from the very beginning. A market gardener and wine producer, he also sells the products of his "friends" farmers. "I campaign for intelligent, ultra-local consumption, and we should all achieve that. We need to raise awareness among the public that we have great products here", he says, adding that he would like people from the Gard area to also visit this Vézénobres summer market.
So, see you next week, on Tuesday 13 August, for a new market in the medieval town located a few kilometres south of Alès…
