“It’s hell”: living in 4 square meters for 600 euros, tenants are also threatened with eviction by their landlord

In less than 15 days, the tenants of a Parisian building will be evicted from their unsanitary accommodation so that work can be carried out with a view to a future sale.

It is in a building in the 12th arrondissement of Paris that Nadia and Aziza live. In total, their building is divided into 14 rooms, according to France 3 Paris.

She has been living in this 4 square meter space (Carrez law) for a year and a half and pays 600 euros per month. No lease, but a simple rent receipt is given to her each month.

The police came to see the unsanitary conditions

On June 24, the residents of this building received a surprise letter in their mailbox asking them to leave within two weeks. It is noted in the letter that electricity and gas will be suspended at the end of the month.

The residents therefore mobilized and gathered around the DAL. The police came to observe the unsanitary conditions of the accommodation and asked the owners to reactivate the electricity which had been cut off. Furthermore, his formal notice to leave the premises was denounced as an "illicit expulsion".

The tenants therefore filed a complaint with the support of the association.
