Jegou-Auradou case: “My father and mother are morally broken”, the complainant's brother confides for the first time

The brother of the plaintiff in the Jegou-Auradou affair spoke to our colleagues at Le Parisien, a few hours before the two players were heard by the Argentine courts this Thursday, August 8.

This Thursday, August 8, rugby players Oscar Jegou and Hugo Auradou are being questioned by the Argentine justice system after being charged with "aggravated rape" of a 39-year-old woman. The facts date back to the night of July 7-8 at the Diplomatic Hotel in Mendonza, where the French XV stayed during the tour in Argentina.

The hearing takes place 24 hours after the plaintiff was heard, where the lawyers for both parties spoke for several hours.

“The pain is immense for my sister and my entire family”

On the same day, our colleagues at the newspaper Le Parisien published an interview with the complainant's brother. The latter, a lawyer, insisted on testifying on behalf of his family. He insisted on the need for "people to know the truth", that the facts alleged are "impossible to defend", that "the evidence is flagrant" and that those around him are sure "100 % convinced that there was a rape". The defendants' method of defense is also criticized.

The complainant's older brother also emphasizes the trauma the family is going through. “My little brother has nightmares, he suffers from a form of post-traumatic stress, as if he had experienced the events […] For my father, it is indescribable […] The pain is immense for my sister and my entire family. “My father and mother are morally broken” , he explains, still in the columns of Le Parisien.

The moment when she returned home to her parents is also recounted, how she told her family what had happened, how her children are protected from the situation they went through. “She is broken, destroyed morally and physically” , he says again.
