Jihadist terrorist Salah Abdeslam was taken by surprise from his Belgian cell and sent back to France

Il était détenu en Belgique depuis son procès pour les attentats de Bruxelles. Le seul terroriste encore vivant des attentats du 13 novembre 2015 va quitter la Belgique pour la France. 

The terrorist Salah Abdeslam who had been detained in Belgium since his trial for the Brussels attacks was taken from his Belgian cell to be sent back to France.

Requested by France to serve his sentence

It was his lawyer, Me Delphine Paci, who gave the information this Wednesday, February 7. She said: "They came to pick him up from his cell this morning at 9 o'clock and he left for France", as reported by Le Figaro.

Belgian justice had blocked his transfer to France, which wanted him to serve his sentence. He was sentenced to irreducible life imprisonment for his participation in the November 13 attacks in Paris in 2015 which caused the death of 130 victims.

A surprising decision

"This is a flagrant violation of the rule of law", explains its lawyer, who specifies that he only had a few seconds to collect his belongings as reported by RTL.

Belgian justice opposed his transfer in October, considering that his incarceration in France could amount to inhuman and degrading treatment, particularly due to the conditions detention, isolated, filmed…
