“We demand justice for the environment”: the appeal of José Bové and 70 personalities. Midi Libre – NICOLAS ZARROUK

70 public figures, including the former MEP, ask the President of the Republic to make environmental justice a national priority.

"The degradation of the water we drink, the food we consume, the air we consume Let us breathe, however, at a considerable cost to society". Faced with "setbacks" of the Attal government on subjects as diverse as the use of pesticides, access to justice, biodiversity or water management, 70  public figures, including former MEP José Bové or former Minister of Justice Christiane Taubira, sign an appeal on the cover of the New Obs, to "call on the president to make environmental justice a national priority, and to strengthen current legislation".

"This requires increasing the budgets allocated to courts dealing with environmental cases, training and recruiting more prosecutors, who, in falls under their prosecutor's office, often only have half a day per week to deal with this type of dispute, to finally set up a real environmental investigation service, but also to strengthen current legislation, always unsuitable, by adopting more robust, more understandable, and more restrictive laws to deter offenders" we can read in this article which concludes: "It is time to act with determination and urgency to respond to this moral and ecological imperative."
