'Keep the government out of your bedroom': Harris' running mate Tim Walz promises

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz Chosen as Kamala Harris' Running Mate for Election presidential election in November, gave a speech on Wednesday in which he promised that the vice president would win the election against Donald Trump.
“We are here tonight for one reason: we love our country“, Tim Walz said on the third night of the Democratic National Convention. A former teacher, sports coach and retired U.S. Army veteran, Tim Walz, 60, was little known to the general public before Kamala Harris nominated him as her running mate.
He has brought a more grassroots, rustic tone to the Democratic campaign, which was reinvigorated by Harris' candidacy after President Joe Biden ended his reelection campaign on July 21.
The governor of Minnesota has accepted his nomination as the Democratic Party's candidate for vice president of the United States. Tim Walz said that in the United States, no child should go hungry and that access to health care and housing are human rights.
“And keep the government out of your bedroom,”, he said, referring to Republican attacks on abortion rights and same-sex marriage.
Kamala Harris' running mate has said that another term for Donald Trump in the White House would serve no one but the rich and the extremes. Tim Walz has also called for protecting freedoms that Democrats say would be at risk if Donald Trump wins. Harris will deliver a speech on Thursday, the final day of the Democratic National Convention.
Speeches by Clinton, Pelosi and Winfrey
A number of Democratic Party figures and celebrities have joined Tim Walz in calling for a vote for Kamala Harris in the presidential election. Former US President Bill Clinton has criticized Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
“The next time you listen to him, don't count the lies, count the “I's”, he told the crowd in Chicago. Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives who is still very influential in the Democratic ranks, urged not to forget the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
“Let's not forget who attacked democracy on January 6. It was him (Donald Trump). But let's not forget who saved democracy. It was us”, she said. Host Oprah Winfrey also claimed that Donald Trump was only looking out for his own interests, unlike Kamala Harris. “I call all independents and all undecideds,” said Oprah Winfrey, who described herself as an independent. “Decency and respect are at stake in 2024.”
