A major clean-up on the banks of Cèze and at Rimbaud Park is organized on Wednesday May 22, by three special education students and Caarud users. This event will bring together several associations and local structures.

Three special education students in a training institute in Avignon are organizing a cleaning day on Wednesday May 22 on the banks of Cèze and at Rimbaud Park. This event, “La belle Cèze”, will bring together around ten associations and structures from the Rhone Gard. In the midst of professional retraining, Nicolas Doro, Cynthia Chapus and Steeve Fernandez, aged 30 to 40, completed a 14-week internship in Bagnols at the reception and support center for risk reduction for users drugs  (Caarud). The structure has around 190 beneficiaries, the vast majority of whom are men (see box). "We wanted to carry out a co-construction project with Caarud users. They proposed several ideas including waste collection. They were keen to participate in an ecological work", explains Nicolas.

Beyond the environmental aspect, the aim of this day is above all to "break down prejudices".< /em> "We really want to put the beneficiaries in the spotlight and ensure that they are no longer stigmatized because of their addiction. Despite their problems, they are normal people. We would like to gradually re-include them and improve the image they have among the population."

"Revitalizing the partnership network"

Several associations and local structures (Unapei 30, Les Hamelines, Mosaïque en Cèze, Pluriels, Riposte…) are participating in the event. "Before embarking on the project, we carried out an assessment of the territory, says Nicolas. We realized that each association sometimes works in isolation and that can accentuate the stigma. We want to revitalize the partnership network."

The three students invite the people of Bagnolais to join the event. The meeting is at 10 a.m. at Rimbaud Park. The morning will be devoted to an initial cleaning before a picnic from the bag. In the afternoon, the Knet Partage association will create, using the cans collected, a work of art linked to the Olympic Games.

The Caarud, a Riposte service

Caarud is one of the services of Riposte, the inter-professional network of social and territorial openness whose headquarters is in Paris. Bagnols. The association operates in the areas of social monitoring, housing (with accommodation, emergency reception), prevention, health and safety. and with young people and their families. It is organized into three areas: social, health and social care. and youth. Le Caarud is part of the health center où a director, a department head, a nurse and two educators work. Welcome times are organized several times a week at the premises (34 rue du bordelet). "We offer them à to eat, an aid à hygiene and access to essential primary care." There is also personalized advice for drug users. On Wednesday afternoon, Caarud created a reserved slot exclusively for women "so that they can find each other".
