Legislative elections in Hérault: in an unfavorable ballot, former minister Patricia Miralles casts doubt on her presence in the 2nd round

Will Patricia Miralles withdraw?? The outgoing MP (Ensemble), in third place after the first round, has until Tuesday evening, July 2, to make her decision.

The decision, undoubtedly very difficult to make for the outgoing MP, had been expected since the publication of the results of the first round of the legislative election in the 1st constituency of Hérault. It ultimately did not fall this Monday. Coming in third position with 22.54% of the vote, behind the candidate Ciottiste supported by the RN Josyan Oliva (34.11%) and the environmentalist candidate New Popular Front Jean-Louis Roumégas (34.04%). nbsp;%), Patricia Miralles can still claim to participate in the second round, Sunday July 7.

Calls for withdrawal

But with a delay of more than 7,000 votes, and lower than expected scores in the various offices in Montpellier, re-election for a third term seems complex to consider. And the possible victory of a deputy supported by the extreme right next Sunday evening has pushed several political figures to call for his withdrawal.

This is particularly the case of the mayor of Montpellier, who urged all the NFP and Ensemble candidates who came in third position to "systematic republican withdrawal& quot;. And more specifically, from the mayor of Lattes Cyril Meunier. “I call on Patricia Miralles to withdraw and everyone to refuse the RN victory in our constituency, indicates the elected official in a press release. In his camp, several told us that they had passed the same message to the former Secretary of State for Veterans. “It is all the easier since there is not an LFI activist running for the left, but an environmentalist”, confides one of them.

Over the course of the day, Jean-François Eliaou (Horizons), Laurence Cristol (Ensemble) and then Patrick Vignal (Ensemble) made it official that their ballots were not returned from the polling stations on Sunday. Patricia Miralles, however, still leaves room for doubt. Answer no later than Tuesday, July 2 at 6 p.m., deadline for submitting applications to the prefecture for the second round of voting.
