Legislative elections in Hérault: the two candidates still in the race react to the withdrawal of Patricia Miralles, in the 1st constituency

La députée sortante (Ensemble) et secrétaire d'État Patricia Miralles a annoncé ce mardi 2 juillet son retrait du deuxième tour de la législative, laissant face à face les candidats LR/RN et Nouveau Front populaire.

The last two candidates in the running for the 1st constituency of Hérault reacted, this Tuesday, July 2, to the withdrawal of the candidacy of outgoing MP Patricia Miralles. The Ensemble candidate came in third position during the first round, with 22.54% of the votes. The votes of its voters will be the key to the upcoming vote this Sunday, July 7.

Josyan Oliva (LR Ciottiste-National Rally):"I’have taken note of this withdrawal which was to be expected. I especially note that Patricia Miralles was very clear on the form by not passing any voting instructions. She knows my background. She knows where I come from. I'm not worried, I even see it in a positive light. I am convinced that its voters will not choose the left on Sunday, especially in an alliance where we find the extremes."

Jean-Louis Roumégas (EELV-Nouveau Popular Front) : "I salute this courageous and oh so difficult decision to take Patricia Miralles. It was a republican decision that was necessary. Humanly, I know it’s a complicated choice. I also sent him a message. But his withdrawal allows us to clarify the situation in the first constituency of Hérault. On Sunday, voters will have to choose between the New Popular Front or the RN. And I am convinced that Renaissance voters will listen to the President's call. Not a single voice for the extreme right. I take this opportunity to strongly denounce the attacks of which she was the victim."
