La Fédération française de football (FFF) a demandé samedi 15 juin au soir à "éviter toute forme de pression et d'utilisation politique de l'équipe de France" au sujet des élections législatives anticipées.

"Very attached to freedom of expression", the FFF "is associated with the necessary call to vote" but "wants that its neutrality be understood and respected by all (…) as well as that of the selection", she wrote in a press release distributed in particular to the media which cover the Blues at the" #39;Euro 2024.

This press release follows the strong position taken by Blues striker Marcus Thuram who called at the end of the morning to "fight so that the RN does not pass" during the elections of June 30 and July 7.

"Each of them was able to express themselves freely"

From Olivier Giroud to Ousmane Dembélé via Benjamin Pavard, other players from Didier Deschamps had asked the French to fulfill their civic duty, nothing more.

The French internationals who begin the competition in Germany on Monday (9:00 p.m.) against Austria have "practically all been questioned (…) on the consequences of the results" European elections won by the far-right party on June 9 with 31.4% of the vote. “Each of them was able to express themselves freely, according to their own convictions and their own sensitivity,” added the FFF.
