This independent association was born from the meeting of passionate Agathois readers, coming from all backgrounds and all generations. They met during monthly reading clubs, in the Agathois bookseller La Promenade au Phare (31, rue Brescou). Their goal: to promote literature in the city, fight against illiteracy in a fun way and act in favor of culture and sharing. It also aims to support bookstores and all cultural initiatives in this region, by imagining partnerships and transversal events. The members of Bol also wish to develop actions, accessible to all, with the cultural and social actors of the urban area. Its name is also a reference to Bernard Pivot's famous television show, Bouillon de culture in the 90s. A dynamic office runs the association. It is composed of Anne Brassens, president, Natalie Serna, vice-president, Agnès Suils de Kernez, secretary and Arriella Vergar, treasurer.
A unique literary prize, by and for 5-11 year olds, Les P’tits bouquineurs de la perle noire is the first major event offered by Bouillon de lecture. This first edition, launched in November 2023 and whose prizes will be awarded next May, includes three distinct categories: The Pearl to listen to, The Pearl to read, and The Pearl to watch. A Grand Prize, named The Rare Pearl, will be awarded to the work, all categories combined, voted by the children as a must-have to share with their best friends. Registration is easy via bulletins available at the La Promenade au Phare bookstore, from teachers and participating locations, or online on dedicated sites. Children are invited to submit their ballot until January 15, expressing their preference for their favorite children's books. Ballot boxes for casting ballots are available at the Librairie La Promenade au Phare and at the Agathoise media library.
Bouillon de lecture has many other projects in preparation, including: literary journeys and escapes, meetings around manga and fantasy, reading and writing workshops, artist residencies, private cultural visits, and various activities around books.
