Ligue 1 clubs have finally decided on the TV rights issue for the period 2024-2029 by choosing on Sunday to entrust the broadcasting of championship matches to DAZN, a new entrant in the French football ecosystem, and beIN Sports , present on the market since 2012, for almost 50 euros per month for the viewer.

DAZN, more than 30 euros per month

Still little known in France where it was launched timidly in 2020, the British sports streaming platform prides itself on being "the leading football broadcaster in Europe".

The "Netflix of sports" owns the rights to the Bundesliga in Germany, Serie A in Italy, and some of La Liga in Spain, as well as the Champions League in several countries. If the subscription to its French catalog, mainly composed for the time being of combat sports and women's football, costs 15 euros per month, its price with the eight Ligue 1 matches out of nine, the next season, should increase significantly.

"Between 30 and 35 euros, or even 40 euros monthly", said RMC Sports, "34 euros" according to L'Équipe, figures that DAZN has not confirmed, which was first to acquire the rights before finalizing a new offer.

Available from Internet service providers (ISPs), DAZN benefits from distribution of its content on the Canal+ sports bouquet.

beIN Sports, 15 euros per month

The encrypted channel also has a distribution contract with beIN Sports, allowing its subscribers to enjoy content from the Qatari channel.

Arriving in France in 2012 through football, beIN broadcasts, for 15 euros per month, football, tennis, basketball and rugby among others. The channel recently reacquired the rights to Ligue 2 for the next five seasons, as well as those to all the matches of Euro-2024 which ends on Sunday and Euro-2028.

The price of its subscription should not increase with the acquisition of the Ligue 1 day poster, completing the DAZN offer. If the LFP, with the launch of its channel, favored a solution bringing together all the matches, Ligue 1 viewers will ultimately have to subscribe to two subscriptions for nearly 50 euros per month.
