Since this Saturday, March 16, 2024, the structure, located rue des Écoles, in Mende, is officially called the departmental media library of Lozère Mélinée and Missak Manouchian.

Don't talk about the Lozère departmental media library anymore. But rather the departmental media library of Lozère Mélinée and Missak Manouchian. Since this Saturday, March 16, and a ceremony in their honor, the structure officially bears the name of the two resistance fighters who entered the Pantheon on February 24.

At the initiative of the PCF, the FSU and the CGT

As Sophie Pantel, the president of the departmental council, recalled, this initiative, which she welcomed with enthusiasm, goes to the Lozère federation of the French Communist Party, as well as than two unions, the FSU and the CGT.

Different political and associative figures made the trip for the occasion, starting with Jean-Claude Gayssot, former communist minister of Equipment, Transport and Housing (1997-2002) and father of Serge Gayssot, departmental secretary of the PCF.
