Reigning French champion Eddie Lemaitre and his co-driver Thomas Chauffray on Skoda went off the road on a special at Pont-de-Montvert this Sunday April 28, 2024. Thomas Chauffray was injured.

The drivers of the Lozère rally had to face heavy rain in the Cévennes this Sunday, April 28, 2024. During the 7th special in Pont-de-Montvert, the French champion title Eddie Lemaitre and his co-driver Thomas Chauffray on Skoda went off the road, at the second turn after the start. If Eddie Lemaitre escapes unscathed, Thomas Chauffray, 38 years old,  had his leg affected in the accident with a suspected fracture. He was evacuated by the Pnt-de-Montvert firefighters to Mende hospital. Another 34-year-old competitor, after leaving the road, was also evacuated by the firefighters, suffering from neck pain.

Difficult racing conditions

The runoff of water has transformed the road on the Pont-de-Montvert side into a real stream, making driving conditions very difficult for drivers. The last special was canceled. At the start this Sunday morning, the couple Berfa and Thomas on Hyundai were leading the race.
