Massive cyberattack in progress: 43 million people likely to be affected by data theft on France Travail

This Wednesday, March 13, 2024, the France Travail website indicates that it was the victim of a cyberattack. 43 million people could be affected by data theft.

"Personal information about you may be disclosed". The website of France Travail(formerly Pôle emploi) is the victim of a cyberattack, and millions of registrants could be affected, reports BFMTV .

A cyber attack of magnitude

"Following a cyberattack of which we were victims with Cap emploi, personal information concerning you may be disclosed. Your banking information is not affected. We are sorry for this incident and we invite you to remain vigilant", places the site of France Travail on its page ;#39;welcome this Wednesday afternoon. 

In a press release, the site specializing in job searches specifies that"personal information concerning job seekers currently registered with France Travail, people previously registered over the last 20 years as well as people not registered on the list of job seekers but having a candidate space on francetravail.fr are likely to be disclosed and exploited illegally. 

What personal data is concerned ?

According to France Travail, "first and last name, social security number, date of birth, France Travail identifier, email and postal addresses and telephone numbers", are likely to have been exposed during this attack. 

The site invites its users to be vigilant. For the people concerned, scam attempts could occur via fraudulent calls, SMS or emails, using stolen information to pose as insurance, banking institutions, hospitals or delivery services for example. 

"In accordance with its obligations under the GDPR, France Travail has made a notification to the Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL ) and filed a complaint with the judicial authorities", indicates the site.
