Le Bois de Montmaur à Montpellier accueille samedi 27 avril un événement sportif et culturel à destination de personnes en situation de handicap mental et ouvert au grand public.

The Montpellier Culture Sport Adapté is organizing the 21st edition of the sporting and cultural event "Everyone has their own stride", which will take place at the Bois de Montmaur. This is the largest adapted sports event in the Occitanie region. It is aimed at people with mental disabilities with associated or unrelated motor disorders.

The MCSA is an association sponsored by former handball player Michaël Guigou and rugby player Vincent Guidicelli which offers sporting and cultural activities for people with mental disabilities in the metropolis of Montpellier. "It’s the club’s biggest event, notes Agathe Miquel, civic service volunteer within the MCSA and responsible for organizing "Everyone has their own way". It is open to all adapted sports athletes in the region but also to the general public. We are keen to show that those with a disability can practice sport. They are as capable as the others. This day provides a great opportunity to meet and open minds."

Hundreds of people at the meeting

Since its first edition in 2000, this event has enjoyed growing success, each year nearly 400 people take part in this sports day and
friendly. Next Saturday, 250 people with disabilities and their companions are expected, not counting the general public.

This day offers a public who are too often far from sporting activities the opportunity to experience their passion for sport in a secure setting but above all dedicated to pleasure and surpassing oneself. "Everyone has their own stride" aims to raise awareness and promote adapted sport among the general public.

The MCSA is also working to make this day an eco-responsible moment by dematerializing communication and registration files. For the refreshment bar and the meal, reusable cups in the colors of the association will be used.
