“Montpellier is here, yes, we exist in this championship”: the MHR women face the challenge of Stade Toulousain

Après une défaite à Lyon en ouverture de leur championnat, les Montpelliéraines reçoivent le Stade Toulousain, ce samedi à 17h à Sabathé. 

In Lyon, last Saturday, Morgane Peyronnet celebrated her hundredth cap, Lilou Cozar her very first try. At the antipodes? No, rather a real lineage: “Being alongside these players with immense careers means evolving with role models, admires the young winger. During matches and training sessions, these are simply tips to take on a daily basis”.

Uncompromising in her duels offensive as well as defensive, always advancing on her wing, Lilou Cozar took on the role of great lady, emerging as the best player of the match:“It feels good to unlock your personal counter. I was good in my match, carried by the desire to win”.

Unfortunately, the firsts sometimes leave a bittersweet memory: “The positive is that we felt like we were on a good run by being the ones who scored at the start; but we were waiting for Lyon on their scrum… and it turns out that they were actually there, when we were struggling in this sector. From there, we play poorly, we make too many mistakes. In the end, it was a lot of balloons for not much”.

“Yes, we exist!”

The one who perceives the disappointed team but aware of the big chunk that was Lyon, salutes the attitude of a management that does not cheapen the name: “We hoped for more than this defensive bonus but, from the end of the match, the coaches made sure that we only keep in mind what we had done positively. They kept us in this state of mind".

With Lilou Cozar, the appetite comes with scoring… and if possible a big one, against "the Toulouse team who gained confidence, at home, with a huge score [62-0 against Rennes, [Editor's note]". Principle of heredity, through Lilou Cozar, a whole generation rises up: "Toulouse clearly arrives with this advantage. We review our bases but we have for us the desire to show; at home in our turn, that Montpellier is really there. Yes, we exist in this championship!".
