Montpellier: municipal police officers want fair equal treatment

"We don't want better but the same!". This is the credo of the inter-union which, this afternoon throughout France, called on municipal police officers to demonstrate. Including here in Montpellier. Where nearly two hundred of them gathered in front of the gates of the prefecture.

Coming from the Montpellier area but also from Clermont-l’Hérault, Alès, Agde and even Nîmes. A gathering duly prepared while negotiations, started some time ago, were stopped following the government reshuffle (*).

"We would like more recognition"

What are these territorials asking for ? "For thirty years, our demands have been the same. To move from category B to C like the other security forces, towards whom we would like to have the same recognition, Romain Blanes (police officer in Montpellier and representative of the CGT) and Benoît Fort ( Unsa). And the duo continues: "We do not want to be the poor relations of security, while we are sent on police rescue missions, riots, terrorist acts and we are granted new prerogatives.

This also involves taking into account bonuses in the calculation of retirement "and then we pay taxes on it". Like what is the norm within the National Police and the National Gendarmerie.
In short, the municipal authorities “don't just want crumbs”.
