Motorhome traffic: eight arrests, ten seizures and sixty gendarmes mobilized in Nîmes

Originally from Eastern Europe, nine women and their 16 children who lived in the seized vehicles then found themselves homeless. The operation took place this February 14 in the early morning in the Costières and Ville-Active sectors.

The soldiers of the Gard gendarmerie group intervened this Wednesday, February 14 to reinforce their comrades from Agen as part of a series of arrests and seizures, in Nîmes , in a case of motorhome trafficking.

In the Costières and Ville-Active sectors, 8 people who were members of the traveling community were notably arrested in the early morning by the twenty soldiers from Lot-et-Garonne and their forty colleagues Gard (of the Psig de Bagnols and Vauvert and the Compagnie de Nîmes).

Around ten camper vans were also seized from these people who were then living there with their family and who are suspected of being involved in trafficking in converted vehicles.

Following this seizure, 9 women (and their 16 children) found themselves homeless. The offers of temporary rehousing and assistance made to them, however, were all refused by the interested parties.
