MP Sylvain Carrière is concerned about the 15% increase in prices in Frontignan nursing homes

It is a missive that some interpret as a missile. On Friday February 9, the LFI deputy for the Frontignan constituency took to his finest pen to alert Frédéric Valletoux, Minister Delegate in charge of Health and Prevention, about the increase in prices within the municipal nursing homes of the muscatiere city.

An increase of 14.75%

"Citizens and elected officials have expressed to me their deep concern for several days about the public retirement homes of Frontignan. The financial situation of the establishment having deteriorated considerably, families of residents are once again asked to compensate for the increase in costs. Indeed, in a letter dated February 1, 2024, management warned families of an increase of 14.75% from January 1 of this year", wrote Sylvain Carrière.

Call to the State

The MP thus explains that a "resident now finds herself having to pay 300 € additional per month when it has already had to face a price increase of 150 € per month during the year 2023. (…)  We know that this increase will in no way improve the financial situation of these establishments but will simply help maintain budgetary balance. If rapid solutions can be taken by establishments to try to optimize expenses by having tighter management, it is vital that the State responds with concrete actions." And to regret that the various laws do not allow state aid for public nursing homes.

Undisputed figures

The communication of this letter has stirred up a little, it's an understatement, the managers of the Frontignan establishments. Who recognize the veracity of the figures but who then leave their supervisory bodies, the Department for Dependency (nurses, psychologist, etc.) and the State, via the ARS, to care (staff, nurses, medical equipment, etc.), communicate on this subject. Which, for the moment, has not been done.

Explainable increases

"He doesn't discover anything", slips a person involved in the management of the Frontignan nursing homes. "Months ago we alerted parliamentarians to the financial situation of these establishments subject to the increase in the index point and the effects of Ségur de la santé". It now remains to be seen what action will be taken on this letter…
