Labellisé depuis 2018, le concours de vins de Mende permet aux lauréats d’orner leurs bouteilles d’une médaille certifiée.

The wine fair, organized by the Sarmentelles association, takes place this Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April 2024, at the Georges-Frêche events space, in Mende.

During this first day, 21 people judged no less than 80 wine samples, divided into three categories: IGP/VDP 2022-2023; AOP/AOC 2022-2023; old vintages, dating from 2019, 2020 and 2021. The products have been carefully selected beforehand and come from the Occitanie region.

Labeled since 2018, this competition allows winners to glean certified macaroons to stick on their bottles. Nine wines received awards in Mende, three in each category (gold, silver, bronze). "We had some very nice surprises, rejoices Guy Saleil, the president of Sarmentelles. It's a positive competition with new products but also producers who continue to present good products."

The results of the competition

The announcement of the results took place at the end of the day, at 6 p.m., in the presence of elected officials from the City and the Department. In the IGP/AOC 2022-2023 category, gold was won by the Spaggia estate, with Ferdinand's Carignon. The money went to Laurent Establet for his Domaine Establet wine. The podium was completed by SCEA Caccia and its wine called Premières Lueurs.

In the AOP/AOC 2022-2023 category, the big winner is Domaine Magalanne with its wine of the same name. Arrived just after, the Belles Pierres estate, for its Chant desâmes wine. Bronze was won with Roquequilla wine by Château Prat Majou.
