North Korea's military on Tuesday destroyed sections of roads once used for cross-border trade with South Korea with explosives, South Korea's Yonhap news agency said.

“North Korea has blown up parts of Gyeongui and Donghae roads north of the military demarcation line”, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said, quoted by Yonhap.

“Response fire”

South Korea's military said Tuesday it had carried out “response fire” on its own territory after North Korea destroyed roads linking the two countries enemies.

After a "explosive bombing operation by North Korea to block connecting roads", South Korean forces "fired response fire in areas south of the military demarcation line", the Joint Chiefs of Staff said, using the official name for the inter-Korean border.
