“Not homemade” mention: ultimately, restaurants will not have to report dishes that are not cooked on site

Une proposition de loi visant à imposer aux restaurants sur leurs cartes et menus la mention "non fait maison" vient d'être retirée. Le projet divisait professionnels, syndicats et parlementaires.

The Minister for SMEs and Commerce, Olivia Grégoire, announced on October 22 that the 175 000 restaurants in France would soon be obliged to mention on the cards everything that is not "homemade", so as to &amp ;quot;bring more transparency to customers" and "reward restaurateurs who go out of their way".

The minister's office claims to have taken note of this withdrawal, and remains "available to resume work with parliamentarians if they wish&quot ;.

The two largest employers' unions in the hotel and catering industry, the GHR and the Umih, expressed in a press release their "satisfaction" following the withdrawal of this bill. They denounced a text "written on the corner of a table", stigmatizing and dangerous for certain already fragile businesses.
