October 1st strike: for the Nîmes collective supporting the New Popular Front, “this mobilization is important”
|The Nîmes collective supporting the New Popular Front is calling for a strong mobilization this Tuesday, October 1st in Nîmes. Midi Libre – E.A.
Tuesday, October 1st, the meeting is at 2:30 p.m. in front of the Maison Carré in Nîmes.
At the call of the inter-union CGT-FSU and Solidaires, and student organizations, a demonstration is organized in Nîmes, as everywhere in France, Tuesday October 1st for the defense of public services, the ’repeal of the pension reform and the revaluation of the minimum wage and salaries. In Nîmes, the meeting is set for 2:30 p.m. at the Maison Carrée.
“The government has denied social democracy for years”
A date that was not chosen at random since it corresponds to the day when the Prime Minister, Michel Barnier, must present his general political speech, giving the broad guidelines of his government. "The government has denied social democracy for years by not taking action against the rejection of pension reform by 80 % of the population. This mobilization is important", explains Denis Lanoy, secretary of the Nîmes section of the PCF who, with the other representatives of the Nîmes collective supporting the New Popular Front, organized a press conference on Monday, September 30, to demonstrate their support for this protest movement that they hope will be widely followed.
La France insoumise demands the dismissal of Macron
In addition to returning to “the social emergency in France, with public services disappearing everywhere in our villages”, underlines Janie Arnéguy, from the Ensemble ! movement, the collective has also mentioned the French public debt, which has reached record levels of 3,228 billion euros according to the latest figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies. “There is a budget deficit because the Government has refused revenue. Today, the richest are not contributing to the national effort", continues Pierre Jaumain of the Socialist Party. For his part, Victor Silberman of La France Insoumise, is demanding "the dismissal of Emmanuel Macron who continues to protect the powerful against the people". A request that is not unanimously followed by the collective. "But this question of dismissal can be put to Parliament", qualifies Denis Lanoy.
