On the A9, a heavy goods vehicle collides with a car in Gard, causing two minor injuries

L’accident s’est produit ce dimanche 30 juin à 6 h 55 dans le sens Espagne-Orange sur la commune de Bernis. La collision a eu lieu alors qu’un véhicule léger tentait d’effectuer un dépassement.

A traffic accident involving two vehicles occurred this Sunday June 30 in the early morning on the A9 motorway, in the Spain-Orange direction.

When firefighters arrived at 6:55 a.m., a heavy goods vehicle and a car carrying two people collided.

Luckily slightly injured, they were transported to Nîmes University Hospital for additional examinations. The truck driver, whose alcohol and drug tests came back negative, was unhurt.

Falling Asleep at the Wheel?

According to the first elements, it was on the occasion of an overtaking carried out a priori within the rules by the car that the truck which was traveling on the right lane would have then shifted to the left before the impact between the two vehicles.

The hypothesis of the driver of this heavy goods vehicle registered in Poland falling asleep is notably considered.

In this early morning, with particularly fluid traffic on the motorway, the two left lanes were immobilized for an hour, while the emergency services intervened.

The gendarmerie was on site, particularly to secure this intervention by the firefighters. The accident did not cause any particular slowdown.
