This Tuesday, February 6, around ten people from the Esat (work assistance establishment and service) of Maguelone, supported by the Agroof design office and three partner companies, will plant 440 shrubs on the peninsula.

One year to the day after planting the orchard with the MHB players, the Compagnons de Maguelone association is continuing its agroforestry project on the site.

This year, this project will continue along the path leading to the Maguelone arch. The objective is always to protect the 18 hectare organic wine estate and all the biodiversity of this unique site, bordered by ponds and classified Natura 2000.

A process started a year ago

In February 2023, 560 aromatic plants and 15 large fruit trees were planted in partnership with the MHB foundation. This orchard was the first phase of the agroforestry program, which continued in 2023 with the creation of tiered hedges in the vineyards and the planting of Mediterranean trees on the edge of the peninsula to limit the impact of sea spray and wind storms.

To carry out this project, the Compagnons de Maguelone called on the Agroof design office, based in Anduze (Gard) and specialized in agroforestry for more than twenty years. The association has thus enrolled in the “20,000 Feet on Earth” which allows companies to support tree planting in the form of sponsorships and to co-finance associated research projects.

Three sponsor companies this year

For the disabled-solidarity planting on February 6, the three sponsoring companies of the operation are Ovea, Com’Event and the RSA Occitanie platform.

The Montpellier company Ovea, created in 2002, is a host and very high-speed access provider, "humanly and ecologically committed".

The Com’Even Organization agency, based in Lattes, has specialized in event strategy since 2005, particularly for professionals.

As for the Occitanie CSR platform of the Regional Council, it has the dual mission of participating in the ecological transition (sharing of good practices, labels and recognition of social responsibility) and of being in support for employment in this sector by disseminating offers from its members.

Through this initiative, the help provided to the dozen companion-planters with disabilities remains the visible part of a global approach to preserving the peninsula and its beauty, by those who shape it.
