L’association rencontre plus de 2000 personnes par an.

While the government is preparing a bill and launching its major plan for palliative care with a significant increase in the budget, the association “be there” continues its support work in the Gard.

"We have existed for 30 years, explains the president of the Alésien structure, Mme Claude Michael. We intervene wherever we have signed an agreement: in nursing homes, at the Bonnefon clinic, at the Alès hospital, in the long care unit duration…"

There are around fifteen volunteers from the association in Alès. The “comforters” as they are called, are specially trained to support people facing serious illness, end of life and bereavement.

"It’is active listening, specifies the president. We meet more than 2000 people each year. And we can even intervene at home when the mobile palliative care team, made up of doctors, psychologists, nurses and social workers asks us to do so."
