Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Laure Manaudou, Olympic champion in 2004, will be the first French torchbearer of the Olympic flame

La nageuse Laure Manaudou sera la première relayeuse française de la flamme olympique mardi, après son allumage dans le site antique d’Olympie, en Grèce, a annoncé lundi le comité olympique grec.

The French swimmer took part in 3 Olympics. In 2004, where she won gold in the 400m freestyle, silver in the 800m freestyle and bronze in the 100m backstroke. In 2008, she took part in those in Beijing, where she did no better than seventh place in the 100m backstroke. Finally, in 2012 in London, she finished fourteenth in the 4×100 m relay.

After its lighting, the Olympic flame will begin its journey with a ten-day relay in Greece before crossing the Mediterranean aboard the three-masted Belem from April 27 to arrive in France in Marseille on the 8 May.
