Paris 2024 Olympics: Why does French shooter Auriane Mallo-Breton have a piece of tape stuck to her helmet ?

Individual silver medalist, épée fencer Auriane Mallo-Breton has a piece of adhesive tape on her helmet. And believe her, she has no intention of removing it.

This piece of tape has been stuck to the épée fence since her first encounter. Trailing 5-0, she managed to get back into the game, before winning the silver medal a few hours later.

From light to luck…

But originally, she had decided to put it on because of the light from the Grand Palais which "bothered her".

But since her exceptional performance, the shooter has not wanted to remove it: "I said to myself that we don't change everything that works”, she concluded.

Now competing in the team event, Auriane Mallo-Breton hopes that the luck that this little piece of tape brings her will allow her to win the gold medal, after the French fencers qualified for the final, after their victory against Poland 45 to 39.
