Paris 2024 Paralympic Games: Mathieu Bosredon and Johan Quaile secure a new double for French para-cycling

Mathieu Bosredon et Johan Quaile ont terminé aux deux premières places de la course en ligne de cyclisme en ligne H3 des Paralympiques jeudi 5 septembre à Clichy-sous-bois, réalisant la même performance que sur le contre-la-montre mercredi.

Largely the favourite after his victory the day before in the time trial, already ahead of Johan Quaile, Mathieu Bosredon immediately showed that he was in good shape by taking more than a minute's lead at the end of the first of the four laps on a chasing group, which included his compatriot.

But he punctured in the second, having to ride several kilometres with a flat tyre and losing time so that the French staff could change it.

What does it matter: having set off behind the group, he very quickly made up the time and, without waiting, took off again in the lead. Johan Quaile followed him a little and, even though he was dropped, it was enough for him to open up a gap with the other riders. The fourth and final 14-kilometre loop was like a lap of honour. Bosredon finished 1,210 ahead of Quaile.

The H3 category is for paraplegic cyclists without voluntary trunk mobility.

Equals Tokyo record

The race brings the total medals for the day to four for road cycling, and to 22 for the entire cycling delegation (track and road) since the start of the Games, more than a third of all the French medals.

With these 54th and 55th medals, Tokyo's performance was equaled by the number of French medals.
