Les pongistes Françaises Flora Vautier et Alexandra Saint-Pierre ont été éliminées en quart de finale des Jeux Paralympiques de Paris ce vendredi 30 août.

It was a close call… The ambitions of young Nîmes native Flora Vautier in the women's doubles were brought to a sudden halt in the quarter-finals of the Paris Paralympic Games on Friday, August 30. The French pair Vautier – Saint-Pierre failed to imitate their male counterparts, Fabien Lamirault and Julien Michaud, who qualified for the semi-finals of the competition scheduled for 6 p.m.

Two match points and they're gone

Facing the formidable Serbian pair Nada Matic and Borislava Peric-Rankovic, ranked number 3 in the world, the French women lost in five sets (11-5, 7-11, 3-11, 11-8, 13-11). After a promising start to the match, the Tricolores took the lead by leading two sets to one. However, despite this lead and two match points in their favor in the fifth and final set, the Serbs were able to turn the situation around. Cruel…

Despite this defeat in the women's doubles, the challenges are not over for Flora Vautier at the Paris Paralympic Games. After her victory in the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles with her compatriot Florian Merrien, she is now assured of obtaining at least a bronze medal. A new chance to shine for someone who, despite her young age, lacks neither talent nor determination.
