A passenger on a plane from Mumbai (India) to Bangalore (India) remained locked in the toilet for the entire duration of the flight. The man was rescued upon landing.

The cabin crew tried in vain to unlock the door from the outside. It was only upon landing of the plane at Bangalore airport that the passenger was able to be freed from the confined toilet thanks to ground technicians. SpiceJet has since issued a statement regarding the incident on one of its flights.

'On January 16, a passenger was stuck in the toilet for about an hour on the SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru, while the plane was in flight, due to a malfunction of the door lock,” the airline said.

Rescued upon landing

"Throughout the journey, our crew provided help and advice to the passenger. Upon arrival, an engineer opened the toilet door and the passenger received immediate medical assistance, the company added.

The cabin crew apparently communicated with the trapped passenger while he remained locked in the toilet, since he was able to pass a note under the door.

In this note, the crew informs the man that he did his best to open the door, but could not 39;s not succeeded. He asks him not to panic and reassures him that the plane will land in a few minutes.

The company apologized to the passenger and assured that the latter was fully reimbursed.
